Searching for employment opportunities in Sweden? Begin here!

The Swedish Public Employment Service, known as Arbetsförmedlingen, provides comprehensive support for job seekers. This support includes information, guidance, and assistance. Additionally, there are several privately operated job search websites commonly used in Sweden. These websites typically feature job listings, often in Swedish, and offer options to upload your CV.

EURES – The European Job Network

Another valuable resource for job seekers is the EURES portal, a compilation of both public and private job listings from EU/EEA countries and Switzerland. This portal is managed by the European Labour Authority, with the goal of promoting labor mobility and facilitating the free movement of workers. If you are a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland seeking employment in Sweden, you can seek assistance from a EURES advisor. Furthermore, the EURES Targeted Mobility Scheme provides financial support to individuals relocating to another country for work.

To contact a EURES advisor, you can reach out to any organization that is part of the EURES network. For a list of EURES members in Sweden, please refer to this directory.

The Swedish Migration Agency, in collaboration with the Public Employment Service, regularly compiles a list of professions facing a high demand in Sweden, known as the Occupational Shortage List (available as a PDF only in Swedish). It's worth checking because if you receive a job offer for a highly sought-after profession (one on this list), you can apply for a work permit directly from Sweden, eliminating the need to return to your home country for the application process. (Regrettably, the list is exclusively available in Swedish, so you might have to use a web translation tool with the provided link.)

Directly Contacting Companies

If you're interested in working for a specific company, consider applying directly to them. Many companies list available positions on their websites. If you can't find career information on their website, reach out to them directly to inquire about submitting an open application.

Work Experience, Internships, and Fast Tracks

Another pathway to enter the Swedish job market is by gaining work experience or securing an internship at a workplace. This provides you with practical experience, vocational insights, or exposure to the working environment, which can be advantageous when applying for a permanent job in the future.
